C1 Lateral Mass Screw Placement
A presentation is developed to instruct surgeons on the technique of C1 lateral mass screw placement. The format will be an online Power Point presentation with narration. Descriptions will be provided of the anatomy, the surgical technique, indications, contraindication, and potential complications. Select cases will be presented. A combination of illustrations, images of models, and intraoperative images will be included. The course will be presented in a manner amenable to completion in one hour. Only AANS members are eligible for CME.
Upon completion of this CME activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the local anatomy relevant to placing C1 lateral mass screws
- Explain the surgical technique of placing C1 lateral mass screws
- Discuss the potential complications of C1 lateral mass screw placement
